I agree Tony - whether it's climate change or simple human greed - the world we want to live in is slowly changing and becoming unsustainable

Nick Matyas

Very good posting. I just love it.
Good work. :)

Certainly there is climate change, but there has been as long as the earth has existed.

It's happening on Mars too...so draw your own conclusions.

The US realised a couple of years ago that by creating a "Green" economy they could a) become energy self-sufficient, reducing their dependency on imports b) make money from it (look how GE has changed its business model and what do you think the banks are planning to make profits from next?) and c) kick-start their stagnant, post Financial Sector melt-down economy.

I live in one of the UK's most picturesque areas, which is increasingly becoming marred by pointless windfarms (How much CO2 is generated to build one? How much are we subsidising them? How much back-up Nucleur power is needed to enable them to function?).

This is a complex issue, with all the usual suspects lining up to make money from it...and we'll pay the bill. Recognise that this is going to happen whatever we do and start preparing for the inevitable. We are wrecking the planet, but that's a different discussion.

Dean - thanks for reading and keeping the debate going. Let's hope we get to the right answer before it's too late, whatever it is ....

Dean Bradley

As usual, someone with good intentions falls down when he arrogantly dismisses anyone who disagrees with him with the phrase

"Anyone who fails to compute this simple formula may as well still believe that the world is flat."

The facts don't back this up if you care to read the subject matter in more detail. Many of the real climate scientists are not convinced that current global temperature variations are caused by CO2 or man - the UN reports have been written to present one view only, and dissenting voices are hidden.

I resent being looked down on just because I prefer to research something thoroughly and make my own mind up rather than blindly follow what politicians tell me. So my advice to you Colin is keep an open mind and allow free debate and logical argument - it's called democracy
